Possibilities on the crust

A chilly night gives a lot of opportunities. Yesterday on the last lesson, my class and I went to an open field and played a kind of softball with our skis on. I wish I had taken some photos to show you but I was to committed and occupied. But today after a long Saturday breakfast we went out and my youngest chose the bike and her parents preferred the skis.

Me and F were out for two hours and enjoyed the sun and the skiing. We met some other skiers but also a man who pulled a stroller with his little baby.

It's always nice to sit down, relax and eat an orange when you get a little bit tired. We heard and finally even saw two Siberian jays chasing each other and flew up in two firs.

The pale skin was more like red when I got inside as the sunbeams are quite strong at this time of the year. The barn I'm leaning against is the same barn at the bottom of this page which is a photo from last lear.

Blind Quilter

My husband showed me this film some weeks ago and I saved the link. I think she is amazing and I like to watch it as I have a dream about making a big quilted bedspread some day. I have done some small ones to my children when they were new born. Through the years I have saved fabrics that never became the dresses or curtains I had planed to sew. So I would like to get these boxes with fabrics out of the cupboards and let the creative me shed its blossoms .....

My Sleeping Beauty - The Clematis

It's hard to believe that all this snow will be gone in seven weeks and that the clematis will be awakened like The Sleeping Beauty. I also hope that I soon will get on my bike and ride it to my work. It takes about 40 minutes to get there but if the weather is good it's a very nice way to start the day with this trip to work.

At dinner time my husband and I finally got out on our skis after a sunny Sunday inside, taking care of the house. But now when the evenings are light there are no problem and this little trip felt like a reward after that cleaning and washing earlier.

Well it's also a very nice reward to look around in the house and feel the clean scent in the different rooms.

A perfect day at work

I'm totally exhausted after a day at work but I'm also enormously happy and satisfied.
- This is my best day at school ever, said a ten year old boy in my class just before he left of and went down the slope.

When you're out a whole day you get really hollow. The students had brought their own packed lunch but we also gave them grilled sausages from the school kitchen. I also felt warm and grateful of having such sweet students because one of them forgot the packed lunch at home but she got sandwiches from a friend. I always have some extra with me but I didn't know anything until after and then they were both saturate.

This place were perfect for both slalom skis, snowboard, cross country skis and different kinds of sleds. We had some small accidents but no one serious and that's always a good sign of a perfect day with 60 happy kids (and some teachers!)

Wish you all a joyful weekend!!

From my heart to the Japanese people

I have difficulties in finding words for this post but I'm thinking about the Japanese people, what they already have gone through and what will happen now. We can only wish that things don't get worse with more earth quakes and Tsunamis.

Fat Tuesday's pastry

Tuesday this week was the day when we eat this pastry and we call it "semla". They are filled with almond paste and cream and on the top we powder them with icing sugar. It's an old tradition connected to the eating before the Lent. The photo above was from last year when we visited my parents house and my mother made those delicious rolls. This year my parents came and visited us at the lake house this special Tuesday and brought rolls, almond paste and cream! We ate them that day and lucky us, we had some left on Wednesday when we went out on a trip with the snow mobiles.

They doesn't look as beautiful as the photo from last year. But out there by the fireside, together with coffee or hot chocolate, with the whole family, nothing could be better.

Grew old with dignity

I will spend some time in this area this week and hopefully be out on skis and improve my condition so I can grew old with dignity....

Some years ago when we were here we always met an old women on skis far out in forest and mire with a backpack, and the last year I think she was about eighty. She was really tough and I must confess that she was Norwegian, the country which this week is the worst enemy to Sweden when there is Cross Country World Champion Chip. But to you in North America I must tell that in one race for men the Canadians beat both Norway and Sweden.
