My favorite cookie

In my workplace we gather every Thursday at 9:40 for twenty minutes and have coffee and eat a cookie or a cake that one of us have baked. This is an old tradition and everybody looks forward to it. Sometimes there are also guests who have worked with us before and now they like to come and visit us. The worst thing that could happen is that someone forgets that it's her or his week to bring the cake, it would be a disaster and everybody will be talking about this forever.... In Sweden we have a word for drinking coffee and eating a cookie and it's "fika", but I haven't found an english word for it, I'll guess that you just say: having coffee.

When it's my turn (once or twice a year) I usually do this one. It tastes very good and it only has three ingredients!

Almond paste
Egg
Cooking chocolate

And tomorrow it's Thursday so I think you can guess what my colleagues are eating when they are drinking their coffee...

Bart, Annie and Tom Meehan

I've previously written about my involvement in some musicals. The inspiration to write about this I got from my favorite blogger Bart Boehlert with his blog Bart Boehlert’s Beautiful Things. He described a visit to the musical A Little Night Music at Brodway. When I read this post, I took courage and wrote an email to Bart because I earlier wrote a comment on his blog. I wanted to explain to him that I don’t have English as my native language so I asked him to be lenient if I spell wrong or use the wrong word. In this letter I also wrote about my little experience with musicals. I waited tensely. But I got an answer and it also contained a big surprise. It turned out that Bart was familiar with the writer of the musical Annie, Tom Meehan!

I picked up the program again and when I looked properly I saw his name. But on the theater program that I saved was the name Th. Meehan on the front. When I googled for Tom Meehan, I realized that Th meant Thomas. I also read that he wrote The Producers and Hairspray. Isn’t that fantastic!

These pics are not from Brodway, but I think you can guess who the role characters are.

"The sun will come out, tomorrow.." Isn't that a very recent text that also fits today.

This was one of my favorite scenes, when Miss Hannigan curtsied for President Roosevelt.

Saturday evening at the lakehouse

My children are playing hockey and soccer so the weekends are full of trainings and matches. So we haven't been here for a while, but yesterday evening was very cozy because the whole family was together in our little cottage.

The right word for beautiful colors in September

Warm sunny days. It has been a lovely week. But the nature has started the transformation, preparing for the winter and I think it's so beautiful. But I've got a very big problem now, I would like to know if there's any difference between the word autumn and fall. When I learned english at school the only word we knew was autumn. Maybe it's fall in American english...

100 years - but still going strong

Work at a school which celebrated 100 years last Friday. It was a fantastic day, both children and staff were dressed up in clothes as if we were from another time. As in the old time we had to bring our own packed lunch and eat it in the classroom.

The local newspaper also fills 100 years this year so they came with cakes to us and made a big story about our old school.
