Stubborn jump ball

We were out for a walk along the river when we discovered this black jump ball in the water fall. We stopped and watched it a long time. There was a white skull printed on it. Both me and my husband realized that it would be a great shot if we could get it. But when we picked up our mobiles to get a photo the ball just showed us the black side. We waited and waited..... the ball stood just still in the water. I thought it was a amazing as the water was everything but still!

Finally when we got tired and wanted to continue the walk we were out for, we put the mobiles in the pockets again

- Yes, of course! The ball turned around and showed us the skull and I thought the dead head laughed at us....

This was the best I could get. Thought about going back with my camera and a great patience, but other things came up.

I'm not sure what a jump ball is, but the irony of photography sure is familiar.

that jump ball looks as though it remains completely still - how can that be? it must have been in precisely the perfect spot, and being round, it stayed put. how unusual, and what a fun sight to behold.
I don't know if you're familiar with Netflix, but it's a movie sight that enables me to watch streaming movies on my television (once I've purchased the "box" and pay the monthly fee). One of the shows I've been enjoying is a show called Lilyhammer. I love the snowy scenes, and I think of you living in a similar climate. It can't be much different. At any rate, most of the dialogue is spoken in Norwegian, and it's lovely to hear. Sometimes they show scenes of people eating, and delicious-looking food shots. I'm loving it. happy week to you Ella.

I have been in many situations like that.... with my camera poised, waiting for something to happen and as soon as you give up - bingo! Just part of photography I guess. If you keep at it long enough, eventually you do get some great shots. And no one can tell by looking just how long you had to wait for it....

How funny that it stayed motionless while the water swirled around it. And, of course, it moved the minuted you gave up on taking a picture. Always the case. :)

Fabulous photos Ella! The ball is amusing and the capture of the falls and rapids below is great!
