One more chance
It was in the afternoon and the sun went down from the sky to a very low level and caressed the treetops. The sunbeams left a magical light on the steeple. I was hurrying up, running on the frozen fields as the sun beguine to get down behind the forest. I felt like I was competing against the Sun herself. When I was close enough I raised the camera and pulled the trigger....
...nothing happend!
The battery was empty! I had been out for a while and it was a little chilly so I guessed that was the reason to the quick "quietus" of my battery. Oh, I was so disappointed that I had missed that chance.
Than something got into my head, some kind of fighting spirit. I didn't want to lose. I picked out the battery from the camera, opened up my jacket and placed it on the naked skin in my armpit. I stood there for some minutes and saw the sun getting lower and lower, but before it disappeared totally I took out the battery quickly to avoid the chill outside my jacket. And, pulled the trigger again....
....it worked!
But only once, but that didn't matter to me because the sun vanished and I returned home as a winner.

You learn something new every day...armpit warmth as a battery saver is definitely something new to me!! Congratulations on your ingenuity (however that's spelled!)
That sounds like a very chilly experiment but so glad it worked for you Ella. Beautiful shot!
I'm glad it worked because it's a lovely photo, beautiful colours.
Yay, you got this gorgeous shot!! I have been there many times, hurrying and trying to beat the light. Sometimes you make it and other times not... so glad you were able to pull it off!
Hey, I am noticing that my post from yesterday is not showing up in my feed for some reason and I'm wondering if others can see it. Can you check when you have a chance? Thanks for your help, Ella!
Lovely photo Ella! I have been out for awhile and want to "catch up" Hope you are well.
Ella you are quite a fabulous storyteller. And resourceful too! I'm mesmerized by the photo. the temperatures must have really dropped there. it looks a beautiful frozen landscape with spectacular light. it has been chilly here and the darkness of winter is creeping into our souls. I naturally seek out fire. at one time I lived in a small cabin perched atop the edge of a cliff, overlooking a large valley. the best part about that of my life was the wood-stove that heated the cabin in winter. I loved waking in the middle of the night, after the fire had long gone out. I would get up, descend from the loft, and stoke the coals into a blazing fire to last the remainder of the night. I hope you have fire to warm you Ella. happy week to you.
I had to laugh about this, envisioning you with your batteries in your armpits. What a great and creative idea!! And it worked - how wonderful!
Wow, I'll have to try that the next time a battery wears out! What a lovely photo! I wish I took more time to capture the beauty of the outdoors in photos. Hope you are well, my friend!
